A Message From the Board
Greetings AAOHN members and friends,
It’s summer! Time for fun, family, and friends! I hope you all take advantage of the opportunity to slow down and refresh your body, mind, and soul. The Board of Directors took time to gather this past weekend, get better acquainted, and work on the strategic plan. AAOHN will continue to be a vital, dynamic organization for years to come with strong Occupational Health Nurse leaders.
AAOHN has exciting education opportunities and information available:
- AAOHN's National Virtual Conference is being held June 8-9, 2022. It’s not too late to register!
- OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Program Training is available online and on-demand. It’s free, so let your safety professionals know.
- Have you been putting off getting your COHN/COHN-S certification? The COHN/COHN-S Online Certification Review Course is available in the AAOHN Online Education Center.
- The Fundamentals of Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing: AAOHN Core Curriculum 5th Edition is available for purchase. The Core Curriculum is an excellent resource for Occupational Health Nursing at any level and if you’re studying for certification, you definitely want to have a copy available.
- Have you heard about Occupational Health Nursing Pulse: The AAOHN Podcast with host Jennylynn Balmer, MPA, BSN, RN, CSP, COHN-S, FAAOHN? She interviews Occupational Health experts and shares their insights. Listen on the AAOHN website, Amazon Music, or Google Podcasts.
I think we sometimes get caught up in the day-to-day and forget about the great resources available to us as members. Have you taken time to look at the AAOHN website lately? There are great resources available including general information about AAOHN, chapter contact information, membership benefits, the Ask It Forum and practice resources, and much more! It’s wonderful to have a singular source for all things Occupational Health Nursing.

This is my last message to all of you as your AAOHN Foundation Chair. It has been my pleasure to to serve you and the Foundation. I appreciate all the support from the AAOHN Members, our Foundation Board of Trustees and the two Foundation Executive Directors that I have served with, Kay Campbell and Catherine Pepler. I am handing over the chair position to Stephanie Weinsier who will provide great leadership to the Foundation!

AAOHN Joins in Letters to House and Senate to Increase OSHA and NIOSH Funding
AAOHN joined the National Safety Council and other occupational health and safety groups in letters to the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate supporting an increase in funding to OSHA and NIOSH to support our shared missions of protecting the safety and health of workers. - Scroll down the page to the Connect With Us box and select the Sign-Up button
- A pop-up will appear titled Add Email Alerts. Check the boxes for New Content and/or Announcements and then select Add Alerts
- For the remaining steps, please follow the below section that best describes your account status. Once complete you will begin to receive new content and new issue Email Alerts *SAGE account differs from your AAOHN member access info*
- If you already have a SAGE account:

- Once you sign in, you will be directed to the My Alerts section of your account
