Education Week - Occupational Health Updates Related to Biohazardous Agents and Animal Exposures

The educational endeavor, updating occupational health practitioners related to biohazardous agents and animal’s exposure, aims at generating a well-educated and confident occupational health APP. The educational session will discuss the various animals and agents utilized in research, the necessary precautions which should be implemented to ensure a safe work environment and end with a discussion of the proper evaluation and treatment of an exposure by a APP. Case studies will be used throughout the presentation and resources will be provided the APP can use in his or her practice.

Course Outcomes:

Upon completion of this session, the learner will be able to:

  1. Describe necessary evaluation of employees prior to working with certain animals and/or biohazardous agents.
  2. Describe evaluation/treatment of employees with exposure to certain animals and/or biohazardous agents.
