The educational endeavor, updating occupational health practitioners related to biohazardous agents and animal’s exposure, aims at generating a well-educated and confident occupational health APP. The educational session will discuss the various animals and agents utilized in research, the necessary precautions which should be implemented to ensure a safe work environment and end with a discussion of the proper evaluation and treatment of an exposure by a APP. Case studies will be used throughout the presentation and resources will be provided the APP can use in his or her practice.
Upon completion of this session, the learner will be able to:
- Describe necessary evaluation of employees prior to working with certain animals and/or biohazardous agents.
- Describe evaluation/treatment of employees with exposure to certain animals and/or biohazardous agents.
