Jennifer Flynn, CPHRM & Lynn Pierce, BSN, RN, CPHRM
By highlighting closed cases of nurse events that resulted in financial loss or expenses, we highlight the types of situations most likely to have serious adverse outcomes for patients and create liability exposures for nurses. Using this information, nurses can examine their own current practices in relation to the allegations of malpractice compared to claims and losses experienced by their peers.
Upon completion of this session, the learner will be able to:
- List the leading allegations made against nurses in malpractice lawsuits.
- Define the average cost to defend nurses and the indemnity paid in malpractice lawsuits against nurses.
