After much review, dialogue with key stakeholders and considerable evaluation of the evolving public health situation, the AAOHN Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 National Conference, April 6-8 in San Antonio.

Why did you wait until now to cancel?

AAOHN leadership has been monitoring the situation and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The board of directors recognized that the developments around COVID-19 were changing significantly each day and the consequences of potentially displacing healthcare workers during this critical time would cause an adverse event. AAOHN does not take this unprecedented decision lightly. AAOHN and our members are committed to providing workplace environments that will be healthy and safe, and with this in mind, the most responsible path forward for our members to fulfill that mission was to cancel this year’s event.

Will the 2020 National Conference be rescheduled to take place later this year?

There are many details and factors that go into planning an event such as the AAOHN National Conference. Based on limited exhibitor and speaker availability, the 2020 National Conference will not be rescheduled for later this year. We look forward to welcoming you to next year’s National Conference, April 12-14, 2021 in Minneapolis, MN.

Will paid attendee and exhibitor badge registrations be refunded?

You will receive a full registration refund in the same format that you paid. In order to receive a refund, you MUST complete the short online form by April 30. Your refund cannot be issued if you do not complete and submit this form. If you received a group registration discount, communicate with your employer on which refund option to select before completing this form. Complete the form.

Will exhibitors be refunded for booth space?

The primary booth contact for your company will receive further information regarding processes and procedures for any booth fee refunds or credits. You can expect to receive an email communication by March 31 with more information. 

Please note that AAOHN is looking into ways we can provide the valuable content from the conference virtually to our attendees and members in the coming months, and with that may be additional sponsorship opportunities for your organization. Any further updates regarding the 2020 National Conference will be published to aaohn.org/national-conference.

What is the situation with hotels if I booked through the AAOHN conference hotel website/room blocks?

Individuals who made hotel reservations inside the AAOHN conference room block will not have to pay penalties or fees associated with their reservations as long as you provide notice of your cancellation to the hotel 48 hours prior to your arrival date. Please contact the hotel directly to cancel your room reservation; AAOHN is not responsible for any no-show or late cancellation fees assessed to you from the hotel.

Will attendees and exhibitors be refunded for airline tickets?

AAOHN is not responsible for reimbursement of non-refundable airfare. Please contact info@aaohn.org if you have additional questions. 

Will any sessions be made available virtually?

AAOHN is looking into ways we can provide the valuable content from the conference virtually to our attendees and members in the coming months. More information will be shared if and when it becomes available. 

How will the conference cancellation impact the organization?

AAOHN did not make this decision lightly. Over the coming months, AAOHN has many steps to take, including determining and analyzing the financial impact of this drastic, but necessary cancellation of our annual event. While we recognize our decision to cancel as the right one, the association’s contracts with many vendors and host hotel require that we work in coordination with our legal counsel and insurance provider to make every effort to ensure the least possible financial loss to our organization. Due to conservative budget management and investments by AAOHN leadership over the last few years, AAOHN is in a healthy state financially to sustain an unpredictable outcome such as this that is beyond anyone’s control. We will provide additional communication to the members as it relates to the impact of the future, should it be necessary. We ask for your patience as we work through the process.
