Self-Assessment Tool for Occupational and Environmental Health Nurses

 

The self-assessment tool is designed to help you:

  • Identify strengths in your knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Identify and prioritize any learning needs.
  • Organize a self-directed plan to meet these identified needs.

It is based on the AAOHN Competencies in Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing, which defines nine categories of competency in occupational and environmental health nursing and establishes performance criteria for each category. Within each category, three levels of competence are identified: Competent, Proficient and Expert. The competencies represent a continuum of knowledge and skills needed in occupational and environmental health nursing and provide a framework for practice.

AAOHN recommends you first read the competencies before completing the self-assessment.
