An overview of the scope and nature of air pollutants, as well as the populations most vulnerable to air pollutants, is provided in this module. Also included is information related to the legislation and policy framework related to air quality in the United States.

This module identifies and discusses the problems of water pollution, and identifies those populations most at risk. The role of the occupational and environmental health nurse in prevention and control strategies is discussed.

Learners will be provided an overview of pesticide use, it's scope and effect. Information will include specific information about pesticides and their related adverse health outcomes, as well as susceptible populations.

Learners will be able to identify the impact of the growing diabetes epidemic on the workplace, adapt therapies for diabetes control to special needs in the workplace and develop strategies to enable the worker to manage their diabetes in workplace situation.

Learners will be able to recognize the risks of transmission for pathogens related to travel, identify prevention measures for pathogens related to travel and discuss the role of the occupational health professional in travel health risk assessment and prevention.
