January 21, 2015

Margaret C. Wilmoth, PhD, MSS, RN, FAAN

Major General

U.S. Army Reserves

Dear Major General Wilmoth,

On behalf of the 61 undersigned organizations representing the Nursing Community coalition, we would like to congratulate you on your U.S. Senate confirmation as Major General of the United States Army Reserves. Collectively, our organizations represent over one million registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, nurse faculty, researchers, and students, and we are committed to promoting efforts that advance the health of our nation through nursing care.

Your robust nursing career and previous leadership roles make you truly deserving of this esteemed promotion as Major General. Over your career, you have shown your steadfast commitment to improving military and veteran health through your research and committee involvements. Serving as the first nurse and female commanding general of a medical brigade with the responsibility of all the U.S. Army Reserve medical assets is a remarkable achievement.

The Nursing Community applauds the Army Reserve and your leadership as you oversee high-quality healthcare services for soldiers, leaders, and units both on the home front and abroad. Again, we extend well-deserved congratulations on your confirmation as Major General, and look forward to future collaborations. If our organizations can be of resource to you, please do not hesitate to contact Convener of the Nursing Community, Dr. Suzanne Miyamoto, at Smiyamoto@aacn.nche.edu or 202- 463-6930, ext. 247.
