Last week, we shared a message that the AAOHN Board of Directors was monitoring the escalating impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) and that the 2020 National Conference would be proceeding as planned. After much review, dialogue with key stakeholders and considerable evaluation of the evolving public health situation, the AAOHN Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 National Conference, April 6-8 in San Antonio.
AAOHN does not take this unprecedented decision lightly. Our primary concern is not only for the safety and well-being of our members and attendees, but also for the health and safety of the employees and families you care for in your facilities. Your time away from the office would have a significant impact on patient care, and with that in mind, we as an organization could not ask you to do that. Please note that AAOHN is looking into ways we can provide the valuable content from the conference virtually to our attendees and members in the coming months.
The very heart of what we do is ensure that workplace environments will be healthy and safe, and be rest assured we know that the work you do matters. We appreciate you understanding that this situation is one that is beyond everyone’s control. We look forward to welcoming you to next year’s National Conference, April 12-14, 2021 in Minneapolis, MN.
