Chicago, IL — January 24, 2020 — The AAOHN (American Association of Occupational Health Nurses) Foundation received a $15,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS (NYSE: UPS). The grant will be used to offer six (6) $2,500 grants to AAOHN members in pursuit of post-secondary education in nursing or other relevant academic degrees.
The AAOHN Foundation is committed to ensuring that occupational and environmental health nurses are seen as the authority on health, safety, productivity and disability management for worker populations by providing them the opportunity to continue their education and conduct research which supports the sustainability of the profession. “The scholarship recipients represent the occupational health nurse striving with passion and dedication to provide quality care to those workers they are responsible for every day,” said AAOHN Foundation Chair Jeannie K. Tomlinson, MSN, RN, COHN-S, FAAOHN, FAAN. “Our recipients are leaders in workforce health and safety, and the Foundation is proud to provide funding for their continued education including research as they grow in the profession.” AAOHN members qualify for these funds by meeting a strict set of criteria, are selected by a review panel, and are chosen based on demonstrated need for professional development and the potential for future contribution to the profession and their future goals.
